Petersburg West Virginia – Erinand Tyler’s Wedding
Ceremony Location: Brake Church of Brethren
From the bride and groom:
About the Venue
Our venue was my home church that my dad is a pastor at (Erin). I’ve been going there every Sunday since I was born. There were so many people from my church that I wanted there and and so many wonderful memories for me there that I knew it would be the perfect place.
About the Dress
My mom actually picked out my dress and when she pulled it off the rack I told her I hated it and wanted her to put it back. It wasn’t what I had in mind at all but then I agreed to try it on. My maid of honor was in the dressing room with me and I said “oh no I think I like this dress.” I even tried on 4 or 5 more dresses after because I didn’t want to love it but I knew that was it. It was so simple and I think that was part of what I loved. Really it was just perfect for my wedding and I’m so glad I chose it
About our traditions/fun activities
Well a big thing that we always do at West Virginia weddings (or at least all the ones I’ve been to) is singing Country Roads. So everyone at the reception makes a circle around the bride and groom and they sing the entire song from beginning to end. We also chose to do traditional vows and then decided to write personal vows in letters to each other and read each other’s letters the morning of the wedding before we got ready. They turned out to be a very special memory that we can look back on especially when one of us is having a rough day and remember how loved we are by each other.
About working with Brenda Hoffman Photography
Brenda was amazing! She was so relaxed and easy to work with and she captured some of my favorite memories. She was also really involved and stayed in touch from the time we hired her until after our wedding. I can’t recommend her enough and we are so fortunate that she was able to come photograph our big day
Most memorable moments
Well I did mention that my dad called me Sharon. It was during a prayer in the middle of our ceremony and no one that was there will ever forget it or let him live it down. Also my maid of honor rapped her speech to the Fresh Prince theme which was definitely unforgettable. One of the best things was the first looks because even though it’s your day, you spend a lot of time running around and talking to other people but that time was just for us and those few minutes were really special.
Advice for other couples
GO WITH THE FLOW! It rained on my wedding day and we had to move my first look pictures up and I had to get ready quicker than I planned and my groomsmen got their suits soaked and the seating chart cards didn’t make it on the table and we had to move our picture location and my dad (our officiant) called me Sharon and my custom cake topper didn’t make it on the cake but IT DIDN’T MATTER because I was spending the whole day celebrating the love I have for an amazing man surrounded by all the people that are important to us and at the end of it we have beautiful pictures, funny memories and the cake was just as delicious without the big B on top so just let your day unfold and worry about celebrating your love, not the little things that are out of your control.
