Fall Engagement Session | Hoffmaster State Park

How did you two meet?

We went to the same high school (Muskegon Catholic Central) so we knew of each other but did not really talk until Rachel’s Junior Year and Jake’s senior year. During Spring Break of 2014, we both attended the annual mission trip our school put on. During the week, we began talking and getting to know each other. When we returned from the trip, I asked him to prom and he said yes! A week after prom we began dating, and the rest is history.

Tell us about the proposal!

(Told from Rachel’s Perspective): Before I tell this story there are a few things to know. One is that Jake never uses social media. Like ever. Another is that prior to our engagement, he had not changed his profile picture since 2015. A third is that whenever we can, we go to Hoffmaster State Park. So, Jake convinced me to make a trip back to our hometown this past August. We both attend school and stay in our college town during the summers to work. Anyways, we made the trip back for the beginning part of the week. On Tuesday, August 21st Jake told me he wanted to go get new profile pictures for his social media. So that evening we went out to dinner with our group of friends. After dinner some of our friends we drove out to Hoffmaster with a nice camera to get some pictures. After hiking out to our favorite spot where we carved our initials in a tree on our first anniversary and put tally marks every year after and enjoying the view, when I turned around Jake was on one knee and asked me to marry him!

Tell us about the engagement session experience

The engagement session was honestly amazing. We aren’t the most PDA, affectionate couple, but Brenda was able to capture the love that we share in the images. The prompts ranged from funny to sweet and Brenda was able to capture true, authentic moments. Tt is one of our favorite memories in our relationship and we cannot wait until she photographs our wedding!
