Fricano’s on Muskegon Lake Wedding – Muksegon, MI
Tell us about your venue and why you chose it
The Event Center at Fricano’s was a beautiful space. The wood beams had such a classy feel, and the old timey bar was a huge sell. The staff was so friendly and their food and drink options were affordable, and delicious.
What fun/interesting activities or traditions did you include in your day?
My Mother-inlaw gave me a six-pence in my shoe that has been passed around people and family who’s gotten married. That was really special. We also danced to recess out of the ceremony to “Forever” by Chris Brown based on the scene in The Office at Jim and Pam’s wedding where they all dance down the aisle to that song.
Tell us about the dress. Why did you love it?
When we walked into the salon all the bridesmaids saw it hanging on the mannequin and at different times while we waited for our appointment said “Sarah, that dress would look perfect on you.” It was even in my size. And it was a ballgown without being too over the top or poofy, and it was lacy and beaded. Just the perfect combination.
Was there a theme for the wedding? What was it and why?
We just really wanted a romantic day. I think that weddings should be, it is a day to celebrate love. So I definitely wanted pink, but I didn’t want it to be too girly because it’s my husband’s day too. So we did Navy Blue, Pink and Grey. And the look of the venue and centerpieces all reflected a romantic feel for the day.
Any advice for other couples?
Get a good photographer who will make you feel comfortable and will do a good job capturing your day. It is so worth it. I also would say don’t compare things or worry what other people will think. Get whatever you want for your special day and everything will just be good. And get good friends to stand up with you to support you and help with the things that go wrong on your big day.
Tell us about your experience with Brenda Hoffman Photography
Brenda is amazing. She helped us pose in pictures to make us feel comfortable and at ease (and look good.) And then when the events for the wedding came around she was like a fly on the wall, I almost forgot she was there. But she was able to capture extremely specific moments that I can remember exactly when the picture was taken because of my facial expression and the high quality of the picture. She even let us design our own wedding album and pick the pages and pictures to go in. She is the epitome of professional and talented.
What were your most memorable moments?
My sister’s were co-maid of honors and they did a hilarious job on their speech. And dancing with my friends throughout the night was so much fun. Honestly the whole day went by in such a blur, I just remember everything going smoothly, having fun with my friend and family, and marrying my husband.
