Dayton, Virginia, on a warm, humid day in August (is there any other type?), the beautiful Josie and handsome Ryan took their first step as husband and wife. Surrounded by family (including one very excited Grand Haven wedding photographer) and friends that had traveled from near and far, standing united in faith they committed their lives to living as one. The many months of preparation came together in perfect harmony, due in great part to all the people who helped put things together, organize, serve food, clean up, and everything else that goes into a much anticipated event such as this.
It was my great privilege to shoot some of these photos. But there was a point before the ceremony at which I put my camera down and “put on” a more important “hat”, so to speak. You see, Josie is my daughter and my most important role that day was being her mom.
As her parents, we could’t be more happy with the man with whom she has chosen to share her life. His reaction as he saw her coming down the aisle spoke volumes to the love he has for her. We couldn’t ask for anything more.
We had a great time at the reception with tons of laughter by all! One of the greatest moments was during the “Newlywed Game” when the couples were asked what their first kiss was like. Lots of hoots and hollers when Josie and Ryan, when given the choice of Starburst, Good & Plenty, Milk Duds, or Zero, both answered with Milk Duds. Hilarious to say the least!
A big thank you to Chris AbiNajm for helping take photos. Thanks, also, to my dad (a former wedding photog) who picked up my gear and shot while I was part of the activities. It was definitely a group effort!
